The Week Ahead

The week

Snapshot

The economic calendar will continue to be a focus in the coming week.

China should garner much of the attention early in the week with FX reserves dues Monday and Imports/Exports on Tuesday, followed by CPI, industrial production and retail sales data out later in the week.

In Europe, industrial production data is on tap while consumer credit and initial jobless claims are seen as the highlights in the US.

Europe: ECB governing council meeting (Feb) will be focus of all attention.

The corporate calendar will remain fairly busy as well, with a large number of sell-side brokerage conferences perhaps providing investors a look into emerging Q1 trends; rounding out the corporate docket, a number of notable retailers are scheduled to release earnings including URBN, BOX, SQ, DG, FNSR, PAY.

Monday

Eurozone finance ministers will be holding a regular eurogroup meeting in Brussels this afternoon. They’ll be considering Greece’s bailout, and the deadlock between Athens and its creditors.

There’s not much in the economic calendar, but we do get the latest Sentix investor confidence report at 9.30am GMT.
